A Twist of Noir Has "Tit-For-Tat" Up

Let me just say that out of all the things that I have written, this the piece of work that I am the most proud of. Not to mention it is rare for any author to be happy with each and every line, or each and every word. With "Tit-For-Tat," I couldn't love any of my stories more than this one.

With echoes of Hammett and Chandler, I tried to capture pulp in all its Black Mask glory. I don't know if I succeeded in doing that, but I am still extremely happy with the results. Charles Grant was nice enough to reprint a story that first appeared in the premiere issue of Astonishing Adventures Magazine, so ladies and gentlemen, I give you "Tit-For Tat."

I'd like to rent a billboard to tell you how kick-ass this is.

That was simply amazing. No, not simply. I had to break out the dictionary. Pulchritude? Wow. I am once again in awe of you, my friend. Utterly in awe.

Princess,

Thanks and "pulchritude" is one of the those ancient words that barely made it into the 20th Century.

Hello Cormac...it's my first visit and I was looking at your list of influences. Lordy, lordy. Have you not read the Travis McGee series by John MacDonald? It's hard to muster up the superlatives to effectively recommend this series. Travis was the original Elvis Cole (minus the Pike, add Meyer).

Pyzhan,

Welcome and I do believe I've never read John MacDonald, I apologize for that. Though I am a crime writer, I am something of a neophyte when it comes to some authors and subgenres.

I am stacked with three books right now and another two are already on the need to read list, but I will be checking John out a month down the line.
