Meh, I got nuthin'

So I DVR'd "Barton Fink," and watched it, because I'm having writer's block like that. I have to write an introductory to an interview and basically finish this same story that I have been working on for almost three months now.

This has been vexing me to the point that I can't really come up with a subject to blog about here. I have been basically linking other people's works (which I would've done anyway), and rehashing older stuff (which I wouldn't have done so much). So I had to outside for inspiration.

The place is named, "Would You Believe? Cocktails." Shouldn't that be, "Would You Believe, Cocktails?" Regardless, I'm a cynic, so the answer is, "no," however it is phrased.

Hey, I may have writer's block, but whoever did this...

Barton Fink has never helped me do much of anything. Love the movie, but everytime I see it, I come away with the same dazed and confused look on my face.

And actually I think they should change the name of that bar.

On a similar theme. Reg Boyle Ltd are (were?) a chain of betting shops in the north east of england. I once saw this grafitti sprayed with 4foot high letters below the name of one of the shops: REG BOYLE LTD.How's THAT for lack of inspiration?

I recommend taking a ship voyage. Out to sea I wrote like a bandit. Three short stories and five chapters of a novel in three weeks. Back on dry land writer's block struck and am having the same trouble shaking it.

Perhaps the cocktails are so refreshing, that one becomes a believer in a higher power, like booze. Which I guess they do anyway, since they're in there boozing it up. Stop being existential.

I would suggest peyote, but...Sometimes brain farts are good- you drop back a bit, but come back better than ever. Hang in there.

Since booze and drugs have already been recommended for your writer's block, may I suggest a good roll in the hay followed by the Paul Newman film "Hombre". There is something to be said for Mr. Newman and Richard Boone for a minor brain stoppage.

If that doesn't work, try some really strong coffee and "The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre".

If this isn't enough to blow the mental carbon out, drink an entire bottle of Nyquil and sit through "The Stupids" followed by Pink Floyd's "The Wall" then "Kentucky Fried Movie" in rapid succession. While doing this, suck on lemons and eat lots of doughnuts & Rueben sandwiches. If this does do it, take up sky diving or go rabbit hunting.

Should any of this prove useful, you let me know.

MRM,

I will get to the name of the bar further down my comment, but I love all things Coen Brothers. They inspire me, even when their movies don't quite click.

Paulie Decibels,

I'm amazed that a graffito made it all the way across The Pond and west. Verbatim, no less, so I will give them half a point for that.

David,

I don't like the ocean; it's too far down to the bottom. I don't mind flying over it, but I don't like traveling by sea and the furthest I've even been is from Ostend to Dover.

Randal,

I'm not sure that their cocktails transcend, but I've seen big lines running out the door of the place. The original San Franciscan Trader Vic's used to make cocktails that would leave you feeling as if you were ethereal.

Mike,

Welcome, and I've never dabbled much with that end of drugs, I have the wrong mindset for hallucinogenics.

Doc,

That's quite a list and I don't have that much time in the week, let alone, two.
