"The drudgery of being a professional writer comes in trying to make good days out of bad days and in squeezing out the words when they won't just flow."
- Benjamin Cavell
"No one is asking, let alone demanding, that you write. The world is not waiting with bated breath for your article or book. Whether or not you get a single word on paper, the sun will rise, the earth will spin, the universe will expand. Writing is forever and always a choice -- your choice."
- Beth Mende Conny

I'm liking both of those Cormac. I liked the joke as well. :-)
I love quotes about writing, Cormac... Thanks so much. I have a book of Hemingway writing quotes. It's genius...
I love the Conny quote. "The world is not waiting with bated breath for your article or book" is so true.
David,
I hope they inspire and that the joke is not applicable in your house.
Anthony,
You're welcome. I gotta check out that Hemingway book.
David,
It's definitely an important point and all of writers forget that each and everything has to be earned.
Sorry Beth, if you're charged with penning the strips in fortune cookies, you don't write, you don't eat.
Randal,
Fortune cookie authors, and soap operas...especially soap operas. Because they would rather entirely absurd plots, than go into repeats.
