These quotes came from The Creative Screenwriting Weekly Newsletter.

"Measure your mind's height by the shadow it casts."

- Rex Stout

"It begins with a character, usually, and once he stands up on his feet and begins to move, all I can do is trot along behind him with a paper and pencil trying to keep up long enough to put down what he says and does."

- William Faulkner

Nice one Cormac. I particularly like William Faulkners, although sometimes its hard to write everything down before the character sprints off. :-)

Hope all is getting better, mate.

Best wishes, David.

David,

They are ever elusive, aren't they? One thing is better, one thing is muddled, and one thing remains unknown. It's all so Lewis Carrol to me.

It sounds like Faulkner and I write much the same way.

I hope all your writing woes resolve themselves. Just get all "jabberwocky" on them.

I just finished my FFF piece and I can't tell if it's the best thing I've ever penned or it is a complete cock up from start to finish.

Take care old friend,
Doc

I like that second quote.
The first one.. I'm not sure I understand it. (that's not unusual for me) :P

I hope that you are "feeling better". :)

Doc,

I think everybody writes the same way, but they don't want to admit it. I haven't read this session's piece yet, but I loved your story set in the Civil War, the best. You take care, too.

Laura,

Stout is basically saying that the more you improve your mind, the better the writer you will become. Become an actual mental giant, instead of the sarcastic version of that saying.

Dave, Doc and Laura,

I'm doing better, thanks for the wishes.
