Ken Bruen is in Papercuts

Hey, author Ken Bruen is in the New York Times literary blog, Papercuts. In the Living With Music segment, they asked him what his November playlist is and...he listens to the Beach Boys?

Ken "Blood, Guts, Guns, And Jaysus" Bruen listens to "Sloop John B?"

Wha? No, I've checked the calendar and it's not April 1st. Some prankster must have deleted Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak" or "Killer On The Loose" and replaced it with (snicker), The Beach Boys. Oh, Papercuts, that's high comedy, you wacky blogsters, you.

Ah, Ken Bruen! I first heard of him at a mystery bookstore in Galway--my bride got a copy of The Guards to read on vacation while we were there. I'll have to find some of his other work now.

Bubs,

He has one out right now that got a mention in the NY Times (it was more like a mention than an actual review) called "Once Were Cops." It's about a Garda that is not all that he appears to be when joins New York's finest in an exchange program.

You can also catch him in Dublin Noir, London Noir and Damn Near Dead. And he has two Hardcase Crime novels out with Jason Starr, Slide and The Max.

Ken,

Welcome and as a parent, I've heard my fair share of the wrong kind of head-banging, myself. My son The Kid, is finally in tune with his Da and that means no more preteen pop.

I've already accepted you liking "Sloop John B" of all the Beach Boys tunes, as I hope you use it as David Lynch did with Bobby Vinton's "Blue Velvet."
