Smak!

I also heard this fine morning that St Patrick was not actually named Patrick but that he was a Patrician and the name flowed from that. Truth?

Thanks for visiting Prattle.

p.s. If you like Scottish writers, I recommend both Denise Mina and Kate Atkinson.

Pyzahn,

Oh, thank you!

"Thanks for visiting Prattle."

No, it was my pleasure and thank you for adding me to the list.

"p.s. If you like Scottish writers, I recommend both Denise Mina and Kate Atkinson."

Someone else (I believe Gifted Typist) has mentioned Denise on another forum, and I'll add her and Kate to a list of authors I plan to keep handy for my forays to the used book store.

Sure he was English, but he moved to Ireland because the beer was better and the chicks were hotter.

From the photo of yourself I could have sworn you were Irish. I'm Irish and have the same curls. Either way, have a cold Guinness and know that we are all brothers of the world.

I'm like 1/8 Irish so it's all good. :)

Doc,

"but he moved to Ireland because the beer was better and the chicks were hotter."

Now you are preaching to the choir.

"From the photo of yourself I could have sworn you were Irish. I'm Irish and have the same curls."

Ha-hah! What was it that the saxophonist said in "The Commitments?" Have Flan show you a pic from that social network that we belong to.

As for the Guiness? Thank you very much and sláinte.

Bubs,

Thanks!

Princess,

Thanks much! I have to borrow my percentage from The Missus to get into any pub.

patrick, of course, was kidnapped by the irish and kept as a slave. He wasn'ta catholic and there's no record him him being ordained as a saint. oh, and the national colour of Ireland is blue.now that's marketing!

Paulie Decibels,

Yes, it's all in there if you click the green "St. Patrick was English," it will take you to all the shennanigans involved with Patrick and the day named after him.

Oh, yes. good stuff. Religions have always been good at marketing and 're-branding'.

Cormac Brown said...

Paulie Decibels,

The most shocking rebranding for me was finding out from The Missus that Christmas was a co-opting of Saturnalia. Then I just found out last year that Jesus was most likely born around Spring.
