"The Book Versus Kindle"

Hey on the same note as "Big Brother Has Got Your Nose."

Author Michelle Richmond posted a YouTube video filmed by Green Apple Books, in which the mighty book battles The Kindle.

And no, I never needed a doctor's note for a book, either. If you haven't read Seth Marko's list from the first link, you really should and if you dropped a book, would this happen?

Methinks not.

P.S. One David strikes back at Goliath.

Ha!
I do a lot of my reading in a bathtub - not sure the kindle would work so well there

It's gonna take me a long time before I can embrace the Kindle, but I'm afraid it's reign will be inevitable. Not turning the page is a very sad thought. Do you think it will be the demise of the library?

Gifted,

The tub, the beach, in the rain, at a cafe where inattentive people are prone to spill things...all out of the question.

Pyzahn,

It absolutely has to be the law that those who cannot afford Kindles, will have a library to go to. In San Francisco, library usage has gone through the roof.

I keep beating this subject like someone taking a Louisville to Trigger, but as long as the publishing world doesn't make us switch over like the recording industry did by virtually killing vinyl, we should be okay.

I understand that there is a greater profitability to be had if they switch over to an all digital format, yet they should print a certain number of books not only for those that don't want to switch, but also for those will never be able to afford an E-reader.

Certainly when money gets tight in this house, I hit Green Apple and Hell on Earth for me, would be not being able to buy three used books for the week, when I only have enough money for one book. Most importantly, used books are also how I discover new authors, as I can afford to take a chance on an author that has a book that looks promising. The publishing industry would do itself a great disservice if they switched over to just E-readers.

Sorry, Cormac, like I said before, nothing beats the feel of a book. I hate Kindle. Hate it. And this post was pretty funny and brought the message home. Yeah, no competition here...

Books: 2
Kindle:0

Woo-hoo!

I'm sure there are people for whom a Kindle or other digital reader is a real boon. For me, the pros of a book outweigh the pros of a Kindle.

I know I will be buying one but may hold off until Kindle 4.

Rebecca,

That was actually the second video and if you watch again or look at the linked videos on the right, there is a link to the first. Oh, and it's more like-

Books: 50
Kindle: 0

Corey,

Amen.

David,

Now, as much as someone like you travels, what are the chances of it making it home intact? Not to mention that you've been to foreign countries, so you know what it is like to contend with adaptors and irregular surges.
